Chiara Savage Schwartz

Hometown: San Rafael, CA

Major: Social Psychology and Creative Writing

Position: Individual Instructor Coordinator

Three things I love to do: Open mic nights at Coho, ride bikes at Skeggs, laugh until my belly hurts

I could talk all day about: New Girl, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, climbing, backpacking, magical realism, my latest book, ceramics!

I would love to connect with guests about: Organizational behavior, social entrepreneurship, leadership and community building, political activism, outdoor education

Biosketch: Chiara is a California native who just finished up her senior year and has been adventuring in the Tahoe region since she could crawl. She’s excited to return to camp after racking up many ascents of Mt. Tallac with guests her first summer and crafting and biking up a storm the following two summers. On Mondays you can find her rock climbing with the Stanford Alpine Club, and in the evenings she loves having jam sessions with friends. She’s interested in stereotype threat and outdoor education and how difference-education can increase belonging for students who are disadvantaged by mainstream educational settings. She’s also interested in organizational behavior and the importance of belonging for company culture. Although she loves racing down trails on her mountain bike and massive elevation gains backpacking, she always appreciates getting out for a jog around Lake Lag. Meeting new people is WAY up there on her list of favorite things (along with crafting her latest short story, adventuring, and glitter) so come chat!
