Katherine McLaughlin

Hometown: Menlo Park, CA

Major: Comparative Literature & Design

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: Sleeping in sunshine, typewriting (and snail-mailing) letters to loved ones, learning new ways to work with my hands

I could talk all day about: My friends, my siblings, my current favorite book, my temporary home in Torino, and Gaga (a type of dance!!!)

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: Arts, writing, media, storytelling, creating, branding, folks who have had non-linear career paths across fields!

Biosketch: Katherine, who you can also call Kat, has been feeling so dreamy about spending her summer in community at Fallen Leaf Lake. Growing up in California, Kat has always had an affinity for biomes that call for bare feet, swimming, and good company. She has recently discovered that her favorite spots are where forest meets rushing, rocky water and grassy beach shores. On campus, Kat spends most of her time in the Community Print Shop, at the lake, and at Harmony House where she is an intern for the Institute for Diversity in the Arts. Off campus she works at YogaSource, visits her family close by, and frequents water holes in Santa Cruz. Before starting university in the fall, Kat spent her extended five years of high school dancing full time in San Francisco, Chicago, and Turino where she discovered her love for cities in addition to nature. With her transition from dance to academic life came her deep love of yoga, which she is passionate about sharing with others. Kat is so excited to experience the joy and magic of Camp with all guests and staphers, and looks forward to getting to know you and your story!
