Isaiah Davies
Hometown: Buffalo, NY
Major: Civil Engineering and Geology
Position: Naturalist
Three things I love to do: Skiing, biking (mountain and road), and tasty food
I could talk all day about: Glaciers, black bears, mountains, snow science, high speed rail, national parks, the perfect cowboy camping setup
I would love to connect with guests about: Geosciences, civil engineering, climate sciences, climate/water policy, urban planning, architecture, mechanical engineering
Biosketch: A Bay Area native turned Buffalo transplant, Isaiah eventually found his way back home to the California mountains. At Stanford, he double-majored in Civil Engineering and Geology and is now pursuing a Master’s in Structural Engineering and Mechanics, with hopes of one day becoming a glaciology professor. College has only fueled his enthusiasm for the outdoors, especially after a research expedition to Alaska where he discovered that fieldwork is the ultimate loophole for making a career out of frolicking in the mountains. Whether he’s serving as President of the Ski & Snowboard Club or working as an assistant manager at the Outdoor Center, Isaiah is constantly looking for ways to make the outdoors a more inclusive space. He is thrilled to continue that work this summer as your Naturalist, teaching about the mountains and people of the Sierras while learning from all of you.
