Annika Jeffery

Hometown: Portland, OR

Major: Human Biology - Human behavior and environmental interactions

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: Being in/around water(rowing, surfing, swimming, frolicking), live music, spike ball with friends

I could talk all day about: Traveling and exploring new cultures and places, rowing, skiing, polar plunges, mental health, importance of nature in our lives, how biology shapes behavior, types of schooling, and crafts!

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: I’d love to connect with folks working in healthcare, sustainability, neuroscience, education, environmental restoration, or anything that brings together science, community, and creativity. I’m especially interested in human-centered healing, global and community health, and how we can support physical and mental wellbeing in thoughtful, sustainable ways.

Biosketch: Annika is a junior from Portland, Oregon, where she grew up skiing, hiking, surfing, and basically finding any excuse to be outdoors. She picked up rowing, which combines her love of the water and her enjoyment of movement with being part of a team. Her curiosity about people, movement, and the planet led her to study Human Biology, where she’s learning about how behavior and the environment shape each other. She spends some of her time volunteering at the Muwekma Ohlone garden, restoring Indigenous land and learning what it means to care for the earth in real, lasting ways. Annika is fascinated by building systems that keep both people and the planet thriving and she’s a big believer that science, art, and storytelling all have an interconnected role to play. When she’s not in class, or rowing with her team, you’ll probably find her on a spontaneous adventure, chasing a sunset, or dancing to live music with her friends.
