Valeria Paez Pulido

Hometown: Cuernavaca, Mexico and Miami, Florida

Major: Product Design (and coterming in Earth Systems!)

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: volunteering at the farm, making stuff in the PRL, going to workshops and trainings hosted by organizing groups

I could talk all day about: the importance of empathy in design, environmental justice, ethnic and queer studies, magical realism, Latinx music, Mexico, creating/crafting/engineering as a wellness practice, social issues, and the skill of self-reflection and imagination.

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: Design, Climate and Sustainability, Product Management, User Research, UI/UX, Justice, EdTech, environmental policy, media/communications

Biosketch: Vale is so excited to come back to camp for a third summer- this time in the office. They enjoy finding solutions to problems of all sizes, salmon in all forms, Snoopy and Mafalda, and spending time with those she loves. At Stanford, they studied Product Design with a minor in Comparative Studies of Race and Ethnicity. As a coterm, they are synthesizing Design with sustainability and justice in their MS in Earth Systems. She loves to find patterns and analyze the world from a systems-level approach. Eventually, her dream is to work with design thinking or consulting skills in social impact spaces/companies/initiatives. She’s a certified life-based learner so please come find her and share your amazing life stories and knowledge (or come share any inconveniences in your life she can help design-think solutions for them!). At camp, you can find them becoming besties with the teeniest of campers (after being with the Guppies in '24 and the Crawdads in '22, she knows just how awesome they can be), reading/napping/sketching at a floating dock, or simply trying her best to be an amazing helper/stapher in the office!
