Michael Brockman

Hometown: Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Major: Symbolic Systems

Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: 1) basketball - big thunder fan 2) any trivia night!! 3) running/biking - i love exploring new trails & scenery

I could talk all day about: books by Hemingway and Steinbeck - I neglected reading fiction for years until my first year at camp when I read Mice & Men, The Pearl, and A Moveable Feast (probably my favorite, its crazy that so many great artists and writers were all in Paris at the same time?!)

I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: the future of building AI/tech that is useful for everyday people! while I plan to work at Google after camp, I've been working hard on a project focused on education technology and that has been super fun + gratifying

Biosketch: Michael (he/him) (‘25) is STOKED to return for his second year at Camp. Three years ago as a Merganser (7-8 year olds) counselor, Mike was an instigator for competition, hosted legendary Steinbeck cruises, and became a massive egg to MC the greatest event at camp -- Egg Drop. But when he wasn't proudly yelling the Merganser Chant, you could probably find him (slowly, very slowly) learning to wakeboard or (also very slowly) learning how to sail.

Back at Stanford, Mike spends his time running, skiing, hooping, working on his awesome app to teach kids math, going to trivia nights, and throwing sick events at the dorm he RAs. Having grown up in rural Oklahoma with his mom from Colombia, he hopes to build technology that helps everyday people that are often overlooked in big tech.

Mike is elated, ecstatic, electrified to make even more awesome memories with campers and staff and would love to chat with you —whether about his backpacking adventures, how he got back into reading after years of hiatus, why the Thunder are the greatest team of all time, or the must-attend events at camp (spoiler: it's egg drop, obviously)!!!!!
