Matthew Sullivan
Hometown: Vienna, VA
Major: Math
Position: Chickarees
Three things I love to do: bike the Old La Honda Loop or lapping over to PCH, meet some of the coolest people on planet earth, and go to conferences with engaging speakers (these events are also typically catered...which admittedly drags me in most of the time!).
I could talk all day about: Cycling, Backpacking, International Politics, Marathons, Knot Theory and other topological concepts, Bar-B-Que, National Parks
I would love to connect with guests about: National Security, Defense, Venture Capital, and Climate
Biosketch: Matthew is from Vienna, Virginia, a town about 20 minutes outside of Washington DC. He is super excited to join the Chickarees and SSC team this summer! Growing up near the Capital, his childhood was met with exciting adventures to embassies and other governmental agencies. He also spent a lot of his time outdoors in the Shenandoahs, particularly through Boy Scouts. Since coming to Stanford, he has become immersed in the cross-section of Silicon Valley's obsession with AI and California's overwhelming natural beauty. At Stanford he has picked up new hobbies including cycling, surfing, skiing, whitewater kayaking, and mountaineering (all of which he is far from mastering). You can catch him falling on his face while learning to water ski, or more gracefully descending on his road bike down Tahoe's awesome peaks. He is stoked to meet you soon at Fallen Leaf Lake!
