Isabel Berny
Hometown: Los Altos, CA
Major: Symbolic Systems- Cognitive Science; Computer Science (Coterm)- Computer & Network Security
Three things I love to do at Stanford outside of class: hopping around at jump rope club, going out for sweet treats, learning new crafts at random workshops (like how to make a metal rose!)
I could talk all day about: music (my current obsession is always changing), books (love a good memoir), dancing, dogs, my study abroad in Madrid, the Charlie Brown movies (the Christmas one is my favorite)
I would love to connect with guests who work in fields related to: computer security, software engineering, health/medicine, medtech, neuroscience
Biosketch: Born and raised in the Bay, Isabel has been around Stanford for most of her life! She just graduated with a degree in SymSys, but is so excited to return back to campus in the fall to finish her masters in Computer Science, focusing on security. Though she was never pre-med, she still finds health/medicine to be super interesting, so please talk to her about that, too! Outside of taking her own classes, Isabel has loved teaching students as a section leader for CS 106A/B for the past two years and hopes to be able to continue to teach students throughout her coterm year. In her free time, Isabel loves dancing around, listening to music with friends, performing with the Jump Rope Club, doing random crafts (she is a friendship-bracelet-making fiend), going to as many concerts as possible, making campfires, and taking on random new adventures (ask about the time she performed in Gaieties). After spending the past few summers doing some big tech internships, Isabel is SO stoked to have the opportunity this summer to learn more about herself and all about guests' stories at Camp, hear about potentially fun cities to move to post-grad, and, of course, make a huge fool of herself with the Crawdads :)
